1,3-glyceryl stearate - Introduction
Glyceryl 1,3-distearate (Glyceryl 1,3-distearate) is a common organic compound, also known as glycerol tristearate. Its molecular formula is C21H42O4.
Nature:
Glyceryl 1,3-distearate is a white or slightly yellow solid, with the characteristics of grease, insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol solvents and most organic solvents.
It is crystalline at room temperature, with a melting point of about 65-67°C and a boiling point higher than 200°C.
It has good lubricity, thickening and stability.
Use:
Glyceryl 1,3-distearate is mainly used as an emulsifier, thickener and lubricant in cosmetics, cosmeceuticals and personal care products.
It can increase the viscosity of the substance, improve the texture of the emulsion, and provide a smooth feeling, making the product easier to apply.
In addition, it can also be used to prepare waxy/semi-solid oils, skin creams, lipsticks, creams, lotions, sunscreens, etc.
Preparation Method:
The preparation of Glyceryl 1,3-distearate is usually completed by transesterification.
Stearic acid and glycerin are heated and reacted under appropriate reaction conditions in the presence of acidic or acid-base catalysts to produce Glyceryl 1,3-distearate.
Safety Information:
Glyceryl 1,3-distearate is generally considered non-toxic to the human body, but it still needs to comply with safe use regulations.
When using cosmetics and personal care products, use them according to the product instructions and avoid prolonged exposure to high concentrations of chemicals. In case of maladjustment or adverse reactions, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor.
